Bio
I worked at Visa for years, launching popular credit cards. But when I applied for a credit card I helped develop, I was rejected.
All my years of smart budgeting and app payments didn’t show up in my credit history. To big banks, I was invisible. If you’ve ever been rejected or hit your credit limit, you know the feeling.
That’s why I founded Sequin, to make sure women get the credit they deserve. There are too many hidden costs to being a woman, and credit shouldn’t be one of them.
Lightning Round
1. What is one fun fact about you that not that many people know?
My first job ever was as a dance instructor and I actually did a fusion aerobics. It would be different styles of dance around the world and I would sell them together. And that was my first. That was my first job as a dance teacher.
2. Who inspires you the most and why?
I know, I talked a lot about my mom. I always just go back to her. I think all moms are super humans. As a mom, you’re so scrappy, you’re so resourceful, and you’re just trying to make everything work the best that you can. I think it’s so amazing. So I’m really inspired by my mom every single day and honestly, I’m inspired by every single mom. I mean, I just think you’re all super human. It’s not to pander to the audience, but I say this even when I’m not on mom focused.
3. What books are you reading now or have read and loved that you’d recommend?
Invisible Women: Data Bias in a World Designed for Men by Caroline Criado Perez
Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance by Angela Duckworth
4. What is one actionable tip or piece of advice that you can tell our moms out there to help them on their financial independence journey?
Build credit in your own. I think the second piece also is just talking to your kids about credit and even them hearing it coming from you as a mom is a subliminal message that I saw my mom being really confident and empowered in her finances.
