Bio
Maria currently lives in NY with her husband and dog and works as an RN. She wasn’t always good with finances until 2017 and was in her early 30s. Since learning more about personal finance it leads her to the FIRE (financial independence retire early) movement. She likes to watch movies, listen to oldies and declutter. She and her husband both would like to be work optional in 2026-2027 and do more slow travel .

1. What is one fun fact about you that not that many people know?
I can speak fluent Spanish. If you looked at my face, I’m a hundred percent Chinese. Both of my parents are Chinese, but I have a, sort of a quirky background where I was born in Venezuela and raised in Puerto Rico, but I’m a hundred percent Chinese.
2. Who inspires you the most and why?
I would say my parents,. Growing up they were really the most hardworking people I have ever met in my life.
3. What books are you reading now or have read and loved that you’d recommend?
4. What is one actionable tip or piece of advice that you can tell our moms out there to help them on their financial independence journey?
It doesn’t matter how big of a step you’re thinking about making, just do one step at a time. Take it one step at a time. You can learn anything online.
